“Reckless Caution”……. The album

Hi all,

So, 5 years ago today, I released my debut solo album “Reckless Caution”.

How did it happen? Where did it happen? Who was involved?

So taking it back to summer 2014, my music group The Meds Collective were over and I had just bagged my own weekly show on Shoreditch Radio in London.

But I still had the hunger to write and record music somehow, but had no serious direction as to how.

I then met a music producer called Oliver McKiernan, who was just about to open his recording studio in North London, called Attic Studios.

After speaking to Oliver about wanting to record some tracks (for what I didn’t know); we started on the project almost immediately.

The recording process was fun, fluid and not too stressful; and for me, my main challenge was to record songs as a solo artist, instead of having 2 other guys with me in a group.

The songs we recorded, were heavily influenced by the music I was listening to at the time, which included artists such as The Specials, The Selector, Tony Allen, Blur & Madness.

The common theme of the songs, were my experiences and observations of growing up in Finsbury Park, London.

We finished recording the tracks in late 2015; by which time, we had recorded between 20 & 30 tracks.

In Summer 2016; Oliver & myself met up again at Attic Studios and reviewed the tracks we recorded.

The decision was then made, to release my first solo album, which we announced in August 2016.

The months that followed were unexpected, scary, overwhelming and fun; as I then went on tour to promote the album.

Again, the main difference being, was me functioning as a solo artist, not as one third of a music group.

I often say that “Reckless Caution” gave me the confidence to write and record further albums with Lyrical Strangers & Nyther Silence, to the present day, where I’m currently promoting my 2nd solo album, “A History of the future in music”.

Although, I also think that the main credit for “Reckless Caution”, should go to Oliver McKiernan.

Thank you to all who support x

So what’s next???
